Drake was drawn to the project by his passion for military history. His interest in Russia began after taking a course on the Russian Empire taught by Professor O’Neill.
Outside of the Imperiia Project, Drake coaches youth soccer. He spent the summer on an archaeological dig at a Roman fort in England.
